Thomas Joseph Caimotto Sr.

In his home in Livonia, Michigan where he has resided for six decades, with his family next to him and Darlene, his beloved wife of 60 years, Tom Caimotto passed away October 2, 2026 after a brief battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer.

Tom was born May 17, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to Frederick Julian and Mary Theresa Caimotto. He graduated from Redford Union High School in 1961 where he wrestled and played on the football team. He then began as a welder at the Livonia Ford Transmission Plant that would continue into a 33-year career. Tom had a real love and passion for all-things cars, he loved to tell stories and tell you about the engine or transmission type put in different vehicles he or others raced that they rebuilt all the way to the end.

Tom & Darlene married May 14, 1966. Tom was a loving and generous husband, father, father-in-law, uncle, grandfather, grandfather-in-law and great-grandfather. Tom enjoyed traveling, especially cruising and going to their cottage in Houghton Lake, Michigan. Good meals, stories, fishing, playing cards and laughter with family and friends were very special to him. Often seen enjoying meals at Polish Village, Senate and most recently Tony’s Brunch with friends and family members, all occasions resulting in lots of happy memories.

Tom is preceded in death by his brother Henry Caimotto and parents Fred (Bud) and Mary Caimotto. He is survived by his wife Darlene Allain Caimotto, daughters Jill (Peter) Meister, Karen (Jean) Carson, Tom (Stephanie) Caimotto, Jr, grandsons Spencer Crutchfield, Dylan Crutchfield, Brandon (Taylor) Harris, Connor Crutchfield, Dominick Caimotto, and granddaughters Michelle (Brandon) Meister-Beck, Sarah Caimotto, Jessica Meister, and great-grandsons Harrison and Brooks Crutchfield as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 3-8 pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home in Livonia, Michigan, 30200 Five Mile Rd., Livonia, Michigan 48154. Instate Monday, October 5, 2026 from 10:30 am until time of funeral mass at 11 am at St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Catholic Church, 29015 Jamison St., Livonia, Michigan 48154.
