Sylvia Josephine DeBrincat

Sylvia Josephine DeBrincat of Livonia, passed away July 13, 2024 at the age of 89. She was born December 6, 1934 in Gozo, Malta to John and Michelina Bugeja. Beloved wife of the late Xavier. Loving mother of Darlene (the late Jack) Seiter, James DeBrincat, and Patricia (John) Pepple. Dearest grandmother of Jon Dimet, Andrea (Thomas) Allen, Michelle (Bret) Eathorne, Jessica (Ben) Petee, and Kate (Vincent) Buttigieg. Dear great-grandmother of Elayna, Connor, Abigail, Olivia, Alexis, and Jameson. Sister of Margaret (the late Louis) Mercieca, and the late Joseph (the late Maria) Bugeja.

Sylvia immigrated to the United States from Malta when she was 19 years old. She and Xavier raised three children in Detroit and later moved to Livonia. Sylvia was very outgoing, always cheerful and smiling. She loved her family and friends and would do anything for them. She loved to travel, was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting at home and also with her knitting group. Sylvia was the happiest when she was outdoors and in the sunshine. She especially enjoyed being near the water which reminded her of Malta.

Visitation Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 3-8 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home, 30200 Five Mile Rd., Livonia, Michigan 48154. Instate Friday, July 19, 2024 from 9:30 am until time of Mass at 10 am at St. Priscilla Catholic Church, 19120 Purlingbrook St., Livonia, Michigan 48152. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, Michigan.
