Shirley Gorski

Shirley Marie Gorski of Livonia passed away February 7, 2026 at the age of 86. She was born January 28, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Frank and Mildred Sirwaitis.

Beloved wife of the late Henry for 65 wonderful years.

Loving mother of David (Joanne Howard) Gorski, Susan (Michael Kuhl) Gorski, and Jennifer (Jason Washburn) Gorski.

Dearest Grandmother of Emmett and Auden.

Dear sister of JoAnne (Will Nutting) McShane and Frank (Michelle Reska) Sirwaitis.

Shirley is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Shirley had careers in office and building management and insurance sales. In her spare time, she was a hospice volunteer, a puppeteer for a group promoting disability acceptance and inclusion in schools, and an advocate to preserve the Michigan Central Station. Shirley was a quiet, introspective, and open-minded person who was not afraid to think outside the box. Over the course of her long life, she cultivated many interests, including folk and classical music, literature and the arts, and science fiction. She inspired her children to dream and encouraged the best in all who knew her. Shirley's warmth and love for all who crossed her path will be remembered.

A memorial visitation will take place Friday, February 20, 2026 from 4-8 pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home, 30200 Five Mile Rd., Livonia, Michigan 48154.

A memorial mass will take place Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 10 am (Instate at 9:30 am) at St. Priscilla Catholic Church, 19120 Purlingbrook St., Livonia, Michigan 48152.
