Life Story / Obituary

Rosalyn Farnstrom lived a life defined by love, devotion, and the quiet strength that holds a family together. She passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at the remarkable age of 95, leaving behind a legacy that will continue through generations.

Rosalyn was the beloved wife of the late Richard L. Farnstrom, with whom she shared 69 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and unwavering commitment. Their love story, which began through mutual friends, blossomed into a lifelong partnership after they were married on January 20, 1951, at Sacred Heart in Dearborn, Michigan.

She was a loving and devoted mother to ten children: the late Richard C., Karen (Carl) Rimatzki, David, Deborah (David) Hanlon, the late James, Diane (Ron) Peters, Thomas, Theresa (George) Gross, Daniel (Carrie), and Kathryn (Norman) Haro. She was also a cherished mother-in-law of Catherine Farnstrom. Her home was always full—of laughter, activity, and unconditional love.

Rosalyn was the proud grandmother of 25, great-grandmother of 30, and great-great-grandmother of two. Each new addition to the family was a source of deep joy, and she treasured the time spent with her growing family. She was also a dear sister to the late Charles Daly, the late Dolores (the late Orville) Fisher, and Patricia (the late John) Ball. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rose Daly, and her grandson, Rick May.

Family was the heart of Rosalyn’s world. She created a home where traditions flourished and memories were made. Holidays were especially meaningful—filled with bustling kitchens, crowded tables, and the warmth of togetherness. Thanksgiving feasts stretched beyond the dining table, Christmas mornings overflowed with gifts and excitement, and Easter gatherings brought generations together in celebration. Summers were often spent making cherished memories with her family in Northern Michigan. Whether it was time at the lake, family picnics, or watching her children and grandchildren play, Rosalyn found joy in the simple, beautiful moments of everyday life.

Rosalyn’s strength and grace were the foundation of her family. She supported her husband, raised her children with care and dedication, and nurtured a home that welcomed all. Her kindness extended beyond her immediate family to nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom felt her warmth.

Later in life, she and Richard enjoyed traveling together, creating new memories in places like Italy and Australia, and escaping Michigan winters in the sunshine of Florida. No matter where life took her, her greatest happiness was always found in the presence of those she loved.

Rosalyn’s life was a testament to enduring love, resilience, and the beauty of family. While her passing leaves a profound void, the memories she created and the love she gave will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
