Richard Kenneth Trapp, 73 of Canton, MI, passed away on April 20. He died unexpectedly while enjoying his active lifestyle.He was born in Toledo, OH March 23, 1939 to Kenneth and Jane Trapp. He grew up in Monclova, OH, where he graduated from Anthony Wayne High School. He served in the Army after graduation.While in high school, Richard worked for his father and Uncle Fred Trapp at Trapp Motor Sales. He didn't realize it, but that was just the beginning of his automotive career. He worked for Kaiser Jeep while finishing his associate's degree. He moved to Canton, MI and started his career as a design engineer with Ford Motor Company. Richard retired from Ford and Visteon with 39 years of service.Richard enjoyed so many things. Golf was his favorite sport. There was nothing better than a foursome on a sunny summer afternoon. He maintained a very active lifestyle. He enjoyed working outdoors. When Richard was done mowing or snow blowing, he continued on and took care of the neighbors. His wood working craftsmanship is on display throughout the neighborhood. He enjoyed volunteering and serving several charities in Canton and Monclova. You might have passed him on a two lane highway, as he enjoyed travel the back roads across America in his RV.Beloved husband of Yoko. Loving father of Andrew (Lori) Trapp, Kristin (David) Patrick, and Jenn (Mark) Lingenfelter. Grandfather of Emma and Roman Patrick, along with Molly and Janey Lingenfelter. He is also survived by his brother Jim Trapp.
VISITATION:Friday from 1-5pm at our Canton Chapel, 45100 Warren (Btn Sheldon and Canton Center Roads)
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Friday at 4:00pm at the funeral home.
Inurnment: Swan Creek Cemetery Monclova Twp., Ohio
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the VFW of America, or the Berman Center for Animal Care in Westland.
