Nicholas Alexander Ryan

Nicholas Alexander Ryan passed away August 22, 2026, at the age of 27, after a courageous three-year battle with glioblastoma. Nicholas faced his illness with extraordinary courage and grace, meeting each day with a strength that inspired everyone who knew him. He was born April 7, 1999, in Southfield, Michigan.

Beloved husband of Abby and adoring father of their six-year-old son, Alexander James, who were the lights of his life. Cherished son of Daniel Ryan and Mary Catherine Nelson-Ryan. Dearest brother of Katie (Michael) McIlhon, Daniel T. (Cydney) Ryan, Michael (Jamie) Ryan, Justin Ryan, Conor (Shenella) Ryan, Jacob Ryan, Anna Ryan, and Kendall Drake. Loving grandson of Patricia (and the late Richard) Nelson and James (and the late Mary) Ryan. Nicholas was a sweet, sensitive, caring and compassionate son, sibling, friend, husband and father. Proud uncle of 12 nieces and nephews. Nicholas cherished family and nature and would capture in his photographs things that most would miss, always appreciating even the smallest detail. His memory will live on in the music he created and the many photographs he left for all to share

In state Friday, August 28, 2026, from 10:30 AM until time of Mass at 11 AM at St. Valentine’s Parish, 25800 Dow St., Redford, Michigan 48239. Memorial contributions may be directed in his memory to Angela Hospice or Head for the Cure.
