Life Story / Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Nancy Ann Stopa of Livonia, Michigan. Nancy died at the fulfilled age of 90 on Friday, October 6, 2023. She is survived by her children, Sue Fredriksen (Rob), Lynn Brandon (Robert), Eric Stopa and Bradley Stopa (Christine), grandchildren Josh Brandon, Lindsy Mamp (David), Keri Brandon, Nick Fredriksen, Andrea Fredriksen, Christopher Stopa, and Edward Stopa, and great-grandchildren Jace Brandon and Karter Mamp.

Nancy was a noble woman who appreciated all things worldly within life. She was born in East Grand Rapids, Michigan on a small farm with three older sisters and a brother. Upon raising her family she was known as “Mom of the Neighborhood” From her days living in California, rock hunting and collecting precious stones, to her final days admiring her flower garden and the wildlife from her apartment window. She was a real expert in the kitchen, making desserts and traditional Polish meals- always from scratch.

She took great pride in appearance whether it be a matching set of jewelry for a day out, or the tidiness of her gardens. Nancy will be missed greatly, and is continued to be loved by all those who were graciously blessed by her presence.

A private service for immediate family will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 in celebration of her life. Please feel free to share a memory on the Turowski website. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, the Wounded Warrior Project, Comfort's Place Affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic or the Special Olympics.
