Michelle Nailos (née Bados) of Canton, MI passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024 due to the devastating effects of Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born on March 20, 1964 to Jean (Lareau) and Ron Bados in Munster, IN.

She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years Patrick Nailos; her daughter Katherine of Canton, MI, and son Conor (fiancée Jessica Cioffi) of Staten Island, NY; her father Ron and her sister Melissa Gay, both of Munster, IN; seven nieces and nephews, and mother-in-law Peggy Nailos. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Bados and father-in-law Jim Nailos.

Michelle attended St. Thomas More School in Munster and graduated from Munster High School in 1982. She then received Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology and in Chemistry from Indiana University, and a Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame, where she and Pat met in grad school. They married in 1990 and moved to Michigan where Pat was already working. Michelle worked for Goodwill Industries for several years as the supervisor of a sheltered workshop before she became a full-time stay at home parent. Katie and Conor’s education was very important to Michelle, so she was proactively involved in the formation of the newly announced All Saints Catholic School, even before her kids were students. She was a room mom, Girl Scout Leader, Director of the school’s Scout Cluster, a 4-H leader, sacristan and volunteer and board member of the CYO sports program. In 2006 Michelle started working at All Saints as a teacher’s aide in pre-K and 1st grades. She loved working with the students 1:1 and making creative bulletin boards for each season. She was well-known for building a giant igloo that would magically appear over the weekend in one of the classrooms, and for turning the exterior of the classrooms into pages out of a Gingerbread Baby book. Michelle was also active in the Notre Dame Club of Ann Arbor, organizing student sendoff picnics, and planning Christmas Urchin’s masses and visits from Santa.

Visitation will be on September 26, 2024 from 3 to 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home, 45100 Warren Rd. Canton, MI. She will lie in state September 27, 2024 at 10 AM, with a mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas a Becket Catholic Church, 555 S. Lilley Rd Canton, MI. Private Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. Donations to All Saints Catholic School STEM Fund 48735 Warren Rd. Canton, MI 48187 in her memory would be appreciated.
