Mary Frances Williams of Livonia passed away March 7, 2026 at the age of 94. She was born December 8, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to Leo and Frances Maas.

Mary was raised on the West Side of Detroit and graduated from St. Therese High School in 1949. She received an associate degree in Secretarial Science in 1951 from the University of Detroit, and she would begin her career at the General Motors Work Headquarters. She would later work at American-Standard Company where she met her future husband, James H. Williams; a widower with three young boys. They would soon be married in 1955 and had three boys together.

In 1966 she went back to work and had a 30-year career at Ford Motor Company. After going to night school, she would earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Detroit and held several positions, retiring happily in 1998.

Mary was an avid gardener, growing roses and peonies. A US Masters Swimmer with her brother Charles, she found joy in teaching many kids to swim and officiated many swimming events herself.

Mary loved and cherished her family and friends and will be missed dearly until we all meet in heaven. We will all miss her dearly.

Beloved wife of the late James H. Williams. Loving mother of the late James H. Williams Jr., the late Mark Williams, Bradley S. Williams, Matthew S. (Linda) Williams, the late Charles Q. Williams, and Ronald J. (Julie Rose) Williams. Dearest grandmother of Graeme Williams, Lane Williams, Rosanna (the late Kenneth) Shwenke, and Bernabe Perez. Dear great-grandmother of Antonio, Joseph, and Faith. Sister of the late Lee (the late Diane) Maas, Charles Maas, and the late Geraldine (Jack) Matthews.

Visitation Friday, March 13, 2026 from 3-8 pm at Neely Turowski Funeral Home, 30200 Five Mile Rd., Livonia, Michigan 48154. Additional visitation Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, Michigan.
