Life Story / Obituary
Lucille Borowski, 99, of Livonia passed away quietly on January 31 in her home that she shared with her husband Bernie for nearly 50 years. She was born to Henry and Helen (Malinowski) Lewandowski in Detroit on August 9, 1926. Lucille’s legacy lives on in her loving family. She was the mother of Cindy (Rick) LaFond, Cliff (Carol) Borowski, Marsha (Paul) Wharton, Ann Carpenter and Rob (Kathy) Borowski, along with 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernie, and son, Cliff.
Lucille was proud of her Polish heritage and known for hosting many large family gatherings at her home with traditional Polish dishes; especially the kielbasa made by her and Bernie.
In addition to raising five kids, Lucille enjoyed a full career at Kelly Services, first as a temporary “Kelly Girl,” and then through the years working her way to a key position in the marketing department.
Her Catholic faith was important to her and followed her from her school days and marriage at St. Casimir’s to her busy family-raising years at St. Gemma’s to her later years at St. Edith’s.
Lucille will be remembered as a strong, independent woman, loving matriarch and faith-filled individual to all who knew her.
