Loretta May Hyzy of Canton passed away August 12, 2024 at the age of 83. She was born November 21, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Helen Wyderko. Loretta was a devout Catholic and took pride in her faith. It helped her through her battle with cancer just as much as her family did. Loretta was an incredible woman with vast talents and hobbies. She loved to sew, scrapbook, read, golf, race cars, cook Polish food, and watch and attend hockey and baseball games. She also loved to collect Swarovski Crystal, Polish Pottery, and Disney figurines. She and her husband Robert loved to travel together. They took trips to Hawaii, San Diego, Florida, and just about every lighthouse in Upper and Lower Michigan. When Julianna and her family moved to Northern Michigan they visited multiple times a year to be with family and support her granddaughters in their activities (fitting in plenty of golfing while there as well). Loretta put loving time with her family above all else. Most recently, she made lasting memories by attending a Michigan football game with Allison, seeing The Trans-Siberian Orchestra with Sophie, and being a wonderful great-grandmother to Eli and Emmett. Her loving nature, spiritual devotion, and verve for life were positive influences on everyone she met. Thus, even in her passing, she will continue to echo warmly in the minds and hearts of her friends and family, imparting them with smiles, happy memories, love, and laughter - the embodiment of who she was.

Beloved wife of Robert for 61 years. Loving mother of Julianna (William) Schuetze. Dearest grandmother of Allison (Ian) Wolf and Sophie Schuetze. Dear great-grandmother of Eli and Emmett Wolf. Sister of Bernard (Diann) Wyderko. Aunt of John (Elizabeth) Wyderko and Joseph (Lisa) Wyderko. Great-aunt of Zachary, Leah, Jacob, and Katelyn. Loretta was also survived by several other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial visitation will take place Friday, August 23, 2024 from 3-7 pm with a Rosary at 6:30 pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home, 45100 Warren Rd., Canton, Michigan 48187. A memorial mass will take place Saturday, August 24, 2024 with a gathering of family and friends at 10:30am until the time of mass at 11:00am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Rd., Canton, Michigan 48187. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Angela Hospice, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation, or the Capuchins.
