Life Story / Obituary

Juanita McEvilly was born on March 27, 1948, in Marion, Ohio. Known above all for her profound selflessness, she consistently put everyone else ahead of her own needs. When John and Juanita first met, her smile left a lasting impression that became the foundation for a relationship spanning over 50 years. She was an extremely hard worker, dedicating herself fully to her career, most recently serving the public at the Michigan Secretary of State.

Juanita had a deep and enduring love for lighthouses and the serene beauty of the Great Lakes. Her family will forever cherish the memories of their vacations together in Holland. For Juanita, there was no greater peace than sitting by the water, simply listening to the gentle sounds of the boats bobbing on the docks of Lake Michigan.

She was a devoted family woman who instilled her incredible work ethic and boundless compassion into her children. Her festive spirit shone brightly in her home, where she kept a tree up year-round, joyfully redecorating it for every passing season. She loved Mexican food, always enjoyed celebrating St. Patrick's Day, and cherished long conversations with dear friends. A lifelong dog lover who previously shared her life with Great Danes, Juanita found great happiness in taking long walks and spending quiet moments with her beloved dog, Seamus.

Juanita passed away on April 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and quiet strength. She was preceded in death by her mother as well as her grandparents (Carl Seckel and Mildred Mosher). She is survived by her husband, John; her children, Tiffany (Tim), Scott (Brynn), and Sean; her cherished grandchildren, Charlotte, George, John, Will, Rocco, and Livy; and many dear friends who were blessed to know her.

A celebration of life to be held at a later date, with her closest friends and family. Inurnment will take place at St Hedwig Cemetery & Mausoleum.
