James W. Petty

James W. Petty of Canton, Michigan passed away March 20, 2022 at the age of 77. He was born February 28, 1945 in Snyder, Texas to his parents Auburn Petty and Kate Hunter Butler. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, and served on the USS Sirago, a diesel submarine. He worked at E.I. DuPont as a Technical Rep. repairing Photographic equipment across the U.S. In his free time, he enjoyed painting portraits and landscapes, working with rescue horses, and building model ships and planes. Beloved husband of Paula E. Petty; Loving father of Tami M. (Michael) Wilson. Dearest brother-in-law of Debra A. Hoeck; Dear uncle of Kay (Philip) Ellis, Vicki Nelson, Sheila Burleson, Zane (Becky) Davis, and David (Lori) Butler. Also survived by many cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. A memorial visitation will take place Friday, March 25, 2022 from 1 pm until time of memorial service at 2 pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home, 45100 Warren Rd., Canton, Michigan 48187.
