Helen Mauder of Livonia, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024 at the age of 96. She was born September 10, 1928, to Carl and Helen Wolak in East Chicago, Indiana.

Loving wife of the late Walter James Mauder Jr for 52 years. Loving mother of the late Nancy (Chuck) Gordon, Karen (Matias) Zaffke, Linda (Greg) Walker, Janet (the late Bill) Chunn, Walt (Cindy) Mauder, and Mary Ellen (Roger) Moore. Cherished grandmother of Wesley (Nili Gilbert) Gordon, Elissa (Alan) Davidson, Aubrey Zaffke, Karl Erich (Isabelle) Zaffke, Kiersten (Brett) Kaplan, Ashley Zaffke, Gregory (Ann) Walker, Allyson (Mike) Berger, Geoff (Meghan) Walker, Andrea Chunn (Andrew Shanafelt), Brad (Taylor) Chunn, Cody (Ashley Grace) Chunn, Kaitlyn, Emily, and Ryan Mauder, Brigitte and Curtis Moore. Beloved sister of Theresa (Marion) Case, the late Rosemarie (Ernie) Havran, the late Slvyia (Tony) Zatkulak, the late Florence (Chuck) Savage, the late Carl (Joanie) Wolak, and the late Walter (Louise) Wolak. She was a proud great-grandmother of 18 wonderful great-grandchildren!

An avid bowler, Helen found joy in every roll and laughter in her winning games. Her creative spirit shone brightly through her passion for crafting and sewing, activities that allowed her to express her love in tangible forms. A devoted member of the Rosary Society, Helen's deep Catholic faith guided her throughout her life, reflecting her commitment to service and community. She was a cherished volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital for over twenty years.

Helen's life was centered around her family, whom she adored wholeheartedly. She was especially enthusiastic about sports, showing a particular excitement for football, with a fervent following of SEC and NCAA games. Her love for technology, particularly her iPad, allowed her to stay connected with her beloved grandchildren, bridging the generations with laughter and love.

As we celebrate her remarkable life, we invite all who knew and loved Helen to gather for her funeral services on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Catholic Church 29015 Jamison St, Livonia, MI 48154 (in state at 10:30 am).

Burial will take place Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 1:00pm at Indiana at Ridge Lawn Cemetery 4401 West Ridge Road, Gary, Indiana 46408. Luncheon to follow, between 2-2:30pm, at Teibel's Family Restaurant, 1775 US Hwy 41, Schererville, IN 46375.

Helen Mauder’s legacy of love, creativity, and community service will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
