Gladys M. Frania, of Canton, passed peacefully on June 27, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on March 5, 1943, to the late Casimir and Pearl Kuskowski in Hamtramck, Michigan. After graduating from St. Cyril High School in Detroit, Gladys worked as a secretary for Triumph Motors. A blind date led to her marriage to Carl Frania. The couple were married at Our Lady Good Counsel in 1968 and remained by each other’s side for 55 years until Carl’s passing in 2024.

In addition to being the loving wife of the late Carl, Gladys was a dear mother of the late Kim (2017), and Marty (Mary). She was also the beloved grandmother to Monica and Meagan, and doting dog mom to Buffy.

Gladys was a stay-at-home Mom and concentrated on raising her children. When the children were old enough, Gladys went to work as secretary at the Catholic grade school that her children attended – where she knew when her son was in trouble before he knew how much trouble he was in. After the kids were in high school, Gladys went into retail sales at Cook’s Lamp Shop in Roseville, from which she ultimately retired.

Among her hobbies, Gladys was particularly fond of bingo and word search puzzles as she liked to keep her brain busy. Gladys played organ – she took lessons and really enjoyed attending organ concerts. She was also a big fan of Polish dancing.

Of all her hobbies, however, Gladys’ most cherished joy was taking part in her grandchildren’s lives. A Grandma’s job is to spoil the grandkids, and Gladys (G’ma) took her job very seriously. Continuous and immediate updates of their goings-on were required and failure to do so was cause for scolding as only a mother could.

Glady’s faith was a large presence in her life. She regularly prayed the rosary and participated in adoration.

Gladys is predeceased by her parents, her husband Carl, and her daughter Kimberly. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

A memorial gathering will take place Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 9:30 am until time of memorial service at 10 am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market St., Mt. Clemens, Michigan. A memorial luncheon will follow mass.
