Life Story / Obituary
Gianbatista “John” Del Signore a devoted husband, father, grandfather, visionary and entrepreneur in the banquet and restaurant industry, went peacefully to his eternal home on January 30, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born in Italy, on September 17, 1931, John carried with him a tireless work ethic, unparalleled strength both physically and mentally, deep humility, an unshakable belief in opportunity, and a steadfast faith in God. He was one of five children, his brothers and sisters were his foundation, and they shared a bond in their hearts that was inseparable no matter how far John traveled from Italy. As a young man, he immigrated in pursuit of a better life, laboring his way through multiple countries and countless jobs, never shying away from hard work to provide for his family. Each step of his journey shaped the values that would later define his success — perseverance, integrity, and pride in doing things well and doing them alongside his beloved wife, Lina, for 68 years.
Together, they built not only a life, but a legacy. They transformed their shared passion for hospitality, food, and service into an exceptional business empire rooted in dedication, a drive to succeed, authenticity, and generosity. Their partnership — in marriage and in business — was a rare and beautiful testament to love, family, and shared vision that created D’ Giovanni’s Pizzeria, The Italian Hut, Fonte D’ Amore Ristorante and John’s most notable establishment, Laurel Manor.
Known for his exceptional strength, unwavering standards, and deep respect for people, John believed that hospitality was not simply an industry, but a way of life. He welcomed guests as family, mentored generations of employees, and built establishments that became cornerstones of their communities while selflessly giving along his life’s journey. He was a leader that many respected and followed.
His greatest pride was not in what he built, but in who he built it with — his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family, all of whom carry forward his values and spirit.
John was preceded in death by his beloved son, Costantino, whose memory he carried with him always. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Lina, his son Luciano (Nicole), daughters Nanci (Jeff) and Renata, grandchildren Giovanni, Alexa (Todd), Ryder (Robin), Caprice, Coco, Olivia (Mitch), Alexandra, Maximilian, five great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends who were forever touched by his kindness and example.

His life stands as a powerful reminder that with courage, dedication, and heart, one can begin with little and create something extraordinary. Thank you, John.
