Gary W. Flanagan passed away September 17, 2023 at the age of 59. He was born January 4, 1964 in Littleton, Colorado to William and Theresa Flanagan. Beloved brother of Kevin (Mary) Flanagan, Michael Flanagan, Mary (Dennis) DeLeeuw, Martin (Janet) Flanagan, Theresa Flanagan, Cathy (George) Giles, Joanne Palmer, the late Timothy Flanagan, Patrick Flanagan, and William J. (Christy) Flanagan Jr. Dear brother-in-law of Lynn Flanagan. Gary is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.

Gary was a Magna cum Laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame which he attended on an ROTC scholarship, obtaining his BBA in Finance. Upon graduation, he fulfilled his five-year ROTC obligation as an officer in the U.S. Army. He then obtained his JD degree at Florida State University, and later an LLM at New York University, specializing in Labor Law. He was an accomplished and published Labor Lawyer whose articles were cited as authorities by attorneys and courts. He loved all sports and excelled at many. His interests included history, politics, music and, most especially, Notre Dame football. He will be remembered for his kindness, courtesy, and determination, and for his courage in the face of adversity.

Visitation Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 3-8 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home, 45100 Warren Rd., Canton, Michigan 48187. Instate Friday, September 22, 2023 from 10:30 am until time of Mass at 11 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Rd., Canton, Michigan 48187. Interment to follow at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
