Gary Grant, a devoted husband, master electrician, and beloved friend, passed away on June 23, 2024. Born on May 10, 1947, Gary led a life full of dedication, passion, and love.

For 52 years, Gary was a master electrician, establishing his own successful business, L & G Electric, later known as Motor State Electric. His expertise and commitment to his trade earned him a respected position on the Livonia board as a master electrician.

A proud veteran, Gary served his country in Vietnam for two years and was honored with a Purple Heart for his bravery. His courage and service were hallmarks of his character.

Gary had a deep love for boating and spent 30 joyful years as the captain of his cherished boat, “Xanadu.” His passion for street rods, especially his award-winning 1948 Plymouth, brought him much joy and camaraderie at various shows and events. He was also an excellent bowler and a good athlete, excelling in baseball during his prime.

Gary’s kindness extended to all living creatures, and he had a special place in his heart for animals. His love for family and friends was evident in the many gatherings and traditions he cherished over the years.

Gary is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Linda. Together, they shared a full and beautiful life. One of the highlights of their marriage, was to renew their wedding vows on their 50th Wedding Anniversary at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas officiated by ELVIS…surrounded by family and friends.

Gary is also survived by his sisters, Dawn Hessler and Kristie (Daniel) Tellier, and his sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Ron Saponic. He leaves behind nieces and nephews Christine, Rachel, Patrick, Karma, Jessica, Joshua, Rose, Angelica, Melanie, Melissa, Dominique, Desiree, and Damien who will all remember him fondly.

Gary’s life will be celebrated with a viewing at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home, Monday, July 1, 2024, from 3-8 pm (30200 Five Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48154). Additional visitation will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 11 am with military honors.

Gary Grant’s life was one well lived, full of achievements, adventures, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. “When Someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.”

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Michigan Humane Society in Gary’s honor.
