Frank P. Vasilnek, 85, of Canton Township, died May 21, 2025 surrounded by family and loved ones at St. Joe’s of Ann Arbor. Born in New York to Mary Wisneski, Frank spent his early years in Cassandra, PA with grandparents Andrew and Rose Vasilnek. Preceded in death by sister Rosella (Mike) Voss, and brothers Raymond (Dorothy), Andrew, and Charles. And somewhat later came younger brother Steve Piurkowsky. It was here that he met his future wife and life partner Connie (Diehl). Frank served his country in the US Army, having been stationed in both Germany and Korea. His post-service education at the Thaddeus Stevens Trade School (Lancaster, PA) put Frank on the path to a career in automotive manufacturing with both GM and Chrysler, culminating in his retirement from Chrysler in 2004 with 35 years of seniority in machine repair.

A confirmed sportsman -enjoying hunting, fishing, all televised sports but above all football- he was also fond of his crossword puzzles, lottery tickets, travel, euchre, and sharing memories of good friends and the many adventures that dotted the path of his life.

In addition to his beloved wife Connie, Frank’s greatest pleasures were his children: son Michael (Jill) and daughter Lori (Frank) Popyk. His children brought to him grandchildren: Rachel Vasilnek, Abby Vasilnek, Alex (Ashley) Popyk, Katherine Popyk, Vincent Popyk, Jacob (Larry) Popyk, Margaret Popyk, Karolena Popyk, and finally, great-granddaughter Nadia Popyk, all of whom survive him. Additional survivors include sister-in-law Dorothy Piurkowsky, nieces Rose (John) Battle, Carol (Keith) Voss, Andrea (William) Sparks, Denise Piurkowsky, Ann Carruthers, Sheri Carruthers and nephews Jim (Jennifer) Voss, Michael Voss, Ken (Cindy) Vasilnek, Ron (Sheri) Vasilnek, Herbert Carruthers, Mathew Carruthers and Steven and Vincent Piurkowsky. Also, special friends, Evelyn Eyer, Michelle Beck, Lisa and Roger Smith, and Carm and Dave Smay.

Visitation Tuesday, May 27, 3:00pm - 8:00pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home; Instate Wednesday, May 28, 10:30am until time of Mass 11:00am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Rd., Canton, MI 48167. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
