Francisca Brudzinski passed February 19, 2026 at the age of 92. She was born on March 20, 1933, in Laredo Texas to Jose and Soledad Martinez. She was raised in Laredo with her parents and siblings before moving to Michigan in the 1940’s. Francisca was preceded in death by her sister Sarah and two brothers Jose’ and Julio.

Beloved Wife of Leonard, who passed in October 2024, for 67 years. Loving mother of Cynthia (Frederick) Chapman, Michael Brudzinski, Kenneth (fiancé Patricia Sokolwski) Brudzinski, the late Thomas Brudzinski, and James (Karen) Brudzinski. Dearest grandmother of Kim, Missy (Justin), Rick (Kristin), Tom (Brynn), Rachel (Kyle), Martin (Christine),Connor, Sara, Andrew, Sydney, Parker, Hunter and Mason. Dear Great-Grandmother of Riley, Nolan, Hayden, Allison, Lucas, Phoebe, Hailee, Hope and Natalie. Dear Aunt, to numerous nieces and nephews. Cherished sister of the late Sarah Alvarado, the late José Martinez, Isabelle (Ted) Scarborough, the late Julio Martinez, Dolores (Mike) Minear, Susan (Edward) Powers, and Gloria (Jim) Last.

She graduated from Northwestern High School in Detroit where she participated in swimming and field hockey. She attended Michigan State University.

Francisca worked at the National Bank of Detroit in the early 1950’s where she was to meet her future husband, Leonard, and were married for 67 years until his death in 2024.

She loved taking walks, golf, gardening, reading her books or doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, traveling, and hanging out with friends in Florida every winter. She and her husband Leonard spent the last 32 years in northern Michigan in retirement on the lake. She was actively involved with her church and local community. She also participated for a number of years in the annual Mothers March for the March of Dimes. She loved her family especially her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, 9:30am until the time of memorial Mass at 10:30am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 N. Territorial Rd. Plymouth, MI 48170. A private internment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be specified to America Heart Association.
