It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Sellars Evenden, 96, of Novi, Michigan. She was born December 11, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan and entered Eternal Rest May 4, 2022.

Born the oldest of three children of Elizabeth and Guynn Wilcher. Betty called Detroit home for many years. Betty graduated from Mackenzie High School in 1944 and went on to attend Business School after which she worked in multiple secretarial positions in the automotive industry, which included a time at Ford Motor Company. She met her future husband William T. Sellars, while golfing with a girlfriend, and he later joined Ford Motor Company as an engineer. Betty and Bill raised three children and were married 25 years until his passing in 1979.

Betty worked at Riley Middle School in Livonia as a secretary to the principal for over 20 years until her retirement. While working at Riley Middle School she found love again and married Clayton Evenden in 1982. Betty and Clayton traveled, volunteered, and enjoyed 21 years of marriage until he passed away in 2004.

Betty was active in both volunteering and as a Quester at Greenmead Historical Village for over 20 years. She also loved cruising on the sea and gardening and did so well into her late 80s.

Betty Evenden moved to the Fox Run Senior Community several years ago and there she made many friends and enjoyed countless activities during the last years of her life.
