Daniel Robert Millner went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 24, 2026. He was born October 2, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to Robert and Ludwina Millner.

Beloved husband of Diane for 60 wonderful years. Loving father of Daniel (Debbie) Millner, Derek (Teresa) Millner, and the late Shane Millner (Carol King). Dearest grandfather of Daniel Millner, Stephen Millner, Andrew Millner, Arlen (Callum) Davis, Janna Millner, and Shane Millner. Dear great-grandfather of Carson. Brother of the late Ron (Joanne) Millner, Shirley (the late William) Gamble, and Fred (Sharon) Millner. Loving uncle to multiple nieces and nephews. He was a friend to many people, and all who met him quickly became family.

Dan graduated high school in 1964 from Allen Park High School. He proudly served in the US Army Reserves from 1964 to 1970. He married his high school sweetheart Diane Lossing on October 30, 1965. Together they raised 3 boys: Dan, Derek, and Shane. He loved sports, particularly baseball, fishing, golf, and soccer. He was a devoted father and coached his sons’ baseball teams growing up. He became their biggest cheerleader as they got older and played on travel and high school teams, very rarely missing a game.

Dan was highly respected in the steel business for over 60 years. He retired from GM after 30 years as a steel buyer. Not one to sit still, he went into steel sales for Detroit Rouge Steel for another 13 years until retiring from there. He then started his own company with his partner Jeff as a steel broker, buying and selling for others for another 17 years right up until his passing.

Dan had many hobbies including antiques, woodworking, and gardening. He could usually be found in his garden at home tending his raspberry plants or planting vegetables. He and Diane loved antiques. He spent many weekends as he said, “buying junk and selling antiques”.

What Dan would like to be known for though is how he helped people. He was a Christian and tried to embody that in the way he treated others. Countless times he showed this by meeting others’ needs whether this was through a financial gift, his time, his expertise, or material possessions. Dan had a huge heart for others, and this world is a better place as a result of him having been in it. While we grieve at such a huge hole being left in our lives, we rejoice that he is in Heaven today with his Savior Jesus Christ.

Visitation Friday, June 26, 2026 from 3-8 pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home, 30200 Five Mile Rd., Livonia, Michigan 48154. Funeral service Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 11 am, at the funeral home.
