Cindy J. (nee. Ganski) Scussel, 70, passed away peacefully at home June 7, 2017 after a long valiant battle with Multiple Myeloma. Loving wife of Peter for almost 45 years. Beloved mother of Stephanie (Doug) Bevier and Mike (Theresa) Scussel. Cherished grandma of Emma, Kara, Jamison and Julia. Loved sister to many - Cathie (Skip) Basil, Gerry (Maggie) Ganski, Kathy Ganski, Linda Lynch, Jay (Cat) Scussel and Jim Scussel. Favorite “aunt” to many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Eileen Ganski, as well as her brother, Larry Ganski (d. 2016).

Cindy grew up in Dearborn surrounded by family and friends graduating from Lowrey High School. She spent her summers growing up in Oscoda, MI on Van Etten Lake. While working at Kresge's downtown she met the love of her life and were engaged within two weeks! She stayed at home to raise her two kids working in their schools while they grew. She ended her career at Detroit Country Day High School as the attendance secretary for 15 years before retiring. Pete and Cindy were blessed in life to be able to return to Oscoda and Van Etten Lake and purchase a lake house of their own where they and their kids and grandkids have had many happy years together on the water.

Cindy loved spending time with her kids and grandkids as well as her siblings and friends. Her many hobbies included genealogy, music, antiquing with her sister, finding great deals, spending time at the lake, watching her soaps and scrapbooking. She played a mean game of Uno, loved her wine and “grandma’s chocolate milk” and never missed an opportunity to play the slots in Vegas. All will greatly miss Cindy, including her loving, caring, and welcoming nature, ready smile, amazing pork roast and spochens, love of old movies and TV shows, and devilish sense of humor.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 11 from 2 to 7 pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home in Livonia, 30200 Five Mile (Between Middlebelt and Merriman). The funeral will be at 10 am on Monday, June 12 at Neely-Turowski with a processional to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery for burial. Afterwards, family and friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon at Corsi’s of Livonia (http://corsisbanquethalls.net/index.html).

If interested, memorials may be made in her name to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at https://www.themmrf.org/. Click “Donate” in the upper-right hand corner.
