Beloved husband of Gloria for 68 wonderful years. Loving father of Randy (Sandra) Gronau, Cheryl Gronau, and Lori (Pat) Reed. Dearest grandfather of Megan Gronau, Allison Gronau, and Emily Reed. Dear brother of Janice (the late John) Sibole. Charles was predeceased by his siblings Laverne Newton, Wilbur Lee Gronau, Eugene Gronau, and Walter Gronau. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Chuck was passionate about golf, a dedicated supporter of the Detroit sports teams, and a lifelong fan of University of Michigan football. He was known as a reliable handyman, always willing to help his family with home projects. Traveling brought him joy, especially when sharing the experience of Disney World’s thrill rides with his grandchildren. Chuck took pride in his service to his country and cherished the unforgettable opportunity to fly inside a historic WWII B25 Bomber aircraft. Organizing and joining golf outings with friends and family was another favorite pastime.
Chuck was deeply devoted to his family, always looking forward to gatherings and enthusiastically supporting his grandchildren’s activities. In earlier years, he coached youth hockey and baseball teams, fostering a spirit of teamwork and mentorship. Chuck valued both his professional and personal relationships, earning lifelong respect through his unwavering loyalty to others, even outliving many cherished friendships.
Chuck’s life exemplified the belief that hard work leads to accomplishment. Despite humble beginnings, he quickly advanced using his engineering skills, benefiting both his family and a career lasting 38 years at Ford Motor Company followed by post-retirement work at the Prince Corporation. Known as “Charlie” to his work colleagues, he held numerous engineering design achievements.
