Alfredo Aguirre Plascencia, 91, passed away on August 28, 2022, at his home in Livonia, Michigan, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ixtlahuacán del Rio, Jalisco Mexico and was the youngest of six children. He came to the United States as a young man as part of the Bracero program. He married Guadalupe Aguirre in 1954, and together they raised their children in Southwest Detroit with a strong sense of pride in their Mexican Catholic Heritage and the Spanish language. Alfredo worked for 28 years at General Motors. He was very active at St. Anne Parish (Detroit) in the Cursillo movement and assisted in Marriage/Baptism formation with Lupe. He married Fidencia in 1992 and together served as Eucharistic ministers for many years. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Guadalupe and his five brothers and sisters, Maria de Jesus (Encarnación), Salvador (Elisa), Roberto (Ana), Esperanza (Antonio) and Manuel (Mirta). He is survived by his loving wife Fidencia, his daughters Alicia (Pete), Eva (Jay), his sons Alfredo (Paulina), Jaime (Gabriela), Carlos; son-in-law Sergio (Lilia); grandchildren, Pablo, Eric, Alfredo, Elisa, Victor, Gabriela, Yiovani, Daniel, Natalie, Maria, Alan, Alessandra, Enrique, Marco; great grandchildren, Mia, Micaela, Nicolas, Emelia, and Paul. A visitation will be held Tuesday 4pm-9-pm, with rosary at 7pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home 30200 Five Mile Rd., (between Middlebelt and Merriman) Livonia. Instate 10am until the time of the funeral mass celebrating his life Wednesday at 11 am at St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Catholic Parish, 29015 Jamison St., Livonia, MI 48154. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Cursillos of Christianity (Latino Cultural Pastoral Center). Checks can made out to “L.C.P.C” and mailed to 7616 Mayfair St. Taylor, Michigan 48180.
