Geraldine Rogowski

Geraldine “Gerri” Rogowski, 83, formerly of La Salle died August 5, 2018 at Waltonwood Assisted Living in Canton, Michigan with her daughter Rose by her side.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Friday in St. Hyacinth’s Church in La Salle with the Very Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7:00 PM Thursday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Additional visitation will be in the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of services.

Mrs. Rogowski was born in La Salle on December 14, 1934 to John and Angeline “Angie” (Mattiucci) Hrovat. She married Edmund “Ed” Rogowski on May 17, 1958. Gerri worked in the deli department of IGA and later at Illinois Valley Food Center. She loved spending time with her family, playing bingo and working on puzzles. Gerri was an excellent baker best known for her potica, a family recipe handed down from her mother.

Mrs. Rogowski is survived by two daughters Catherine (Michael) Raeber of Ballwin, MO and Roseann (Ronald) Wantuck of Canton, MI; three grandsons Matthew and Christopher Raeber and Ryan Wantuck; two brothers William (Norma) Hrovat of Standard and Ronald (Valerie) Hrovat of McNabb; and one sister Mary Ann Hansen of Discover Bay, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters Delores Riota, Eleanor “Sandy” Dudek, and Cindy Taylor; and two brothers John “Jack” Hrovat Jr. and James in infancy.

No services are being held in Michigan.

Interment St. Vincent Cemetery, Illinois.
