Addison Anne Donahue was a gifted, driven, strong-willed, even sassy young woman. She knew what she wanted and pursued it with passion, yet her compassion caused her to pause and attend to anyone in need. She loved her friends deeply and her family more than anything. She brought them endless delight and profound joy as a precious daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend.

Addison Anne was born to Michael and Maureen Donahue in Commerce Township, Michigan on August 7, 1998. During the decade of the 1990s, the United States was stunned by violence in the Oklahoma bombing and the Columbine shooting. More hopefully, the world witnessed the end of the Cold War and became globally linked through the World Wide Web. Americans flocked to purchase Sega handheld game gear and unwound with the TV humor of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and The Simpsons.

Growing up in Livonia, Addison loved hanging out with her big brother Troy and her many friends. She embraced the active life of sports, art and family fun. She played soccer, basketball and softball, created drawings and other art projects and looked forward to the family’s annual vacation to the Upper Peninsula on Lake AuTrain. Whether she was visiting the zoo, rough-housing with her dog Sam, listening to country music or crafting an original birthday card for her loved ones, Addy lived life fully.

As a student at Divine Child High School, Addy played soccer and varsity basketball and was recognized by the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) as a scholar as well as an athlete. She was a member of the Spanish club and the medical club at DC and was an alter server at St. Valentine Catholic Church. Her activities consisted of sports and more sports, but she gave priority to her family, friends and faith.

Addy was a true friend who loved unconditionally and offered support to anyone who needed it. She had the best of times going shopping with friends, eating at Olga’s or B-Dubs (Buffalo Wild Wings) and watching her favorite show, One Tree Hill, which she viewed on Netflix—all nine seasons twice!

Recent highlights in Addy’s life came when she and the entire Oaks family took a trip to Alaska, and she traveled to Florida with her mom and cousin Alyssa. In 2015, she headed to Phoenix, Arizona to watch the Super Bowl, made possible by the Make-A-Wish Foundation that arranges excursions for youth with life-threatening medical conditions.

Inexplicably, young, vivacious Addison was fighting cancer with all her might. Against unimaginable odds, she amazed everyone with her determination and the constant smile that lit up her sweet face. Addy will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her dearly.

Donahue, Addison January 13, 2016 age 17. Beloved daughter of Michael and Maureen. Dearest Sister of Troy. Dear Granddaughter of Robert and Nancy Oaks and Edith Donahue. Loving niece and cousin of many. Visitation Friday 2-9 PM at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home 30200 Five Mile (Between Middle Belt and Merriman) Saturday in state 9:30 AM until Mass 10 AM at Divine Child Catholic Church 1001 N. Silvery Lane, Dearborn. In Lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to Make-a-Wish Foundation or Angela Hospice. You may share a memory, photo and sign the guest book at www.TurowskiLifeStory.com
