Yvonne Burke

Yvonne Burke Sept 30, 1943 - July 27, 2021

Yvonne was born in Malta to Joseph and Josephine Micallef along with her 5 siblings Vince, Maurice, Sylvia, Vic and Paul. They headed to America in the late 1940's and settled in Detroit where she grew up surrounded by a large family. While hanging out with her twin brother Vic one night she met his friend, James Burke, at a party. He was a musician who could dance so that got her attention, they dated for a few years and married in Sept of 1965. Jim and Yvonne spent 56 loving years together, had 3 kids they would do anything for, 2 grandkids they love more than life itself and a son and daughter-in-law that made our family whole. There were many moves between Michigan and Texas, making amazing friends that became part of our large loving family.

We will miss her fun-loving personality that was larger than life with a smile and laugh to match. Dancing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends were her favorite things. Mom was always on the go and wanted to take everyone she loved on each adventure. Generosity and kindness were second nature to her, if you needed anything she was there. So, let's keep her spirit alive by saying "I love you" every chance you can, get together with family and friends more often. Be kind to everyone you meet and remember to laugh, smile, and enjoy life!!

Loving wife to James Burke, amazing mother and mother-in-law to Jim and Melissa Burke, Renee and Rich Sudz and Aaron Burke. Beloved Mamo to Nathan and Cooper Sudz. Wonderful sister and sister-in-law to Vincent and Pat Micallef, Maurice Micallef, Sylvia and Stan Olszewski, Victor and Marlene Micallef, Paul, and Gerry Micallef. Fun loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Josephine, sister-in-law Patricia, brother Vic, sister-in-law Marlene, nephew Daniel Micallef, niece Laurie Lawrence.
