Pietro Arciero of Redford passed away February 1, 2025 at the age of 89. He was born March 24, 1935 in Cassino, Italy to the late Dominico Antonio and Angela Filomena Arciero. Loving husband for over 55 years, to Gloria. Dear father of Pete (Gale), and Joe (Kim). Beloved grandfather of Alex, Juliet, Ruby, and Ava.

Pietro was the youngest of seven children – his siblings were the late Giuseppe, Pasquale, Antonio, Rocko, Marianna, and Marguerite. He grew up in a rural area at the base of Monte Cassino - the location of a major World War II battle. Later in life, he often told stories of how American troops gave him chocolate and took him for rides in their Jeeps. In search of more opportunity and a better life, he immigrated to the United States in 1956 at the age of 21.

Pietro lived with his brother Antonio (Angelina) and his family for many years on Delaware Street in Redford. He met his wife Gloria when she was working at Green’s Drug Store, and they soon started their courtship. Pietro and Gloria married on September 12, 1969 and bought a home on Woodworth Street in Redford, where they raised their children.

Pietro always strived to better himself and worked tirelessly to support his family. He learned the English language by taking classes at Cody High School in Detroit. He held many jobs, including working as a construction laborer, a baker, and a hairdresser. To earn extra money, he bought an ice cream truck, which made him popular among all of the neighborhood children. His longest tenured job was working as a machinist at Fisher Corporation for over 36 years, making seat belts and various other automotive components. After he retired from Fisher in 2000, he enjoyed his retirement by working part-time and playing golf at Beech Woods and Evergreen Hills golf courses in Southfield.

Pietro was a man of strong faith. As a devout Catholic, he served as an usher at St. Agatha and St. Priscilla. He was also a church choir member for many years. Pietro attended several retreats at St. Paul of the Cross, as he greatly enjoyed the time for reflection, prayer and deepening his relationship with God. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, belonging to both the 3rd and the 4th Degree, and he devoted a great deal of time to fundraising activities including selling 50-50 raffle tickets and helping at Bingo events.

Pietro was a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He loved his family deeply and could always be found supporting his children and grandchildren at sporting activities, boy scout campouts, and band/choir concerts. With the positive impact he’s made on several generations of his family, Pietro leaves an impressive legacy of joy, kindness, and love.
