Life Story / Obituary

Panagiotis "Pete" Korelis, beloved husband and father, passed away on May 29, 2021. Pete was born in Ioannina, Greece and as a teenager emigrated with his family to Montreal, Quebec. He eventually relocated to the United States and settled in Wolverine Lake, where he resided for 46 years.

Loving husband of Kathleen, devoted father of Panagiota (Ben) Richards, Alithea (Michael) King and Cassiopia (Jesse) Benedict and proud papou of Arianna, Panagiotis and Andromeda. Dear brother of Aspasia, Angela and Bill, all of Montreal. Proud of his Greek heritage and a true champion of the underdog, Pete loved fishing the Great Lakes for salmon, steelhead and walleye. His favorite mode of transportation was his Harley and his favorite place to be was his vacation home in Manistee, where he spent his time nurturing his beautiful flower gardens, enjoying Lake Michigan sunsets and celebrating all things Up North. His spirit and zest for life will live on in his family, who love him immensely.

Visitation Tuesday June 1, 2021 from 4 to 8:30 pm with a Trisagion at 7 pm at Nativity of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 39851 Five Mile Rd, Plymouth, MI 48170. A Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 11 am (Instate at 10 am) at the church. Entombment will take place at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church.
