Life Story / Obituary
Taken from her loved ones too, Lindsey Johnson was a blessing to everyone who knew her. She was a lover of life and never met a stranger as she was bubbly, outgoing, and social. Deeply devoted to her loved ones, Lindsey was so grateful to be a mother to her three amazing children, and it was when she was surrounded by her family that she was truly happy. She lived an active life and was always on the go with a wide variety of interests that enriched her life in so many ways. Although she will be deeply missed, Lindsey will never be forgotten by all who were blessed to know and love her.
The 1980s were a vibrant time when technology was taking us places we had never been. Kids kept busy playing the latest video games, and we recorded our memories on camcorders while our minivans took us wherever we needed to go. Michael Jackson and Madonna were big names in the music industry while shows like Head of the Class, Growing Pains, and The Cosby Show were part of the prime time lineup. Amidst this exciting time was the year 1983 when Michael and Elaine (Wood) Johnson were eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child as Christmas drew near in 1983. It was the day before Christmas, on December 24th, that the baby girl they named Lindsey Gail made her arrival in Sanai Grace Hospital in Wayne County in Detroit, Michigan. She went on to become the oldest of four children as she was raised in the family home in Livonia alongside her younger siblings, Michael, Cameron, and Kaitlyn.
In many ways, Lindsey was a young girl of her generation. Although she had a physical disability, it didn’t seem to slow her down at all as she was a dancer who also loved rollerskating, swimming, and snowmobiling. Lindsey enjoyed being with her family, and there were regular family activities, visits to Cedar Point, camping trips, and vacations in Florida. Like most teen girls, Lindsey could often be found hanging out with her friends including Jenny, Ashleigh, and Nicole. She loved doing her sister Kaitlyn’s nails and playing dress up, too. She attended local schools in Livonia including Franklin High School.
There was never anything of greater significance in Lindsey’s life than the people she shared it with. She was in a longterm relationship with Eric Piorkowski, and together they welcomed three children including their daughters, Jossalyn and Legacy, and their son, Dracen, into their hearts. For the rest of her life, Lindsey always counted the days that each of her children were born as the best days of her life. She was part of a big extended family, too, and there were fun-filled gatherings for any and every holiday and special occasion. Their family also grew to include her brothers’ girlfriends, Kari and Crystal, as well as her boyfriend, Jim Coleman, and his daughter, Alyah. Her dogs, Annie, Diamond, Lucy, and Cami were treasured companions, and Lindsey also had a bird named Buddy.
Just as she did when she was growing up, Lindsey maintained an active lifestyle filled with the things she loved. She greatly appreciated the outdoors and enjoyed sunbathing, swimming, and snowmobiling at the lake with her kids, and sledding too. There were countless stories told gathered around the campfire as well as bike rides and walks with family. Lindsey loved going to the Dragway, Car Shows, as well as the Dream Cruise with her mom and stepdad. A sports enthusiast, she loved both baseball and hockey games and cheering on her favorite teams, the Tigers and the Red Wings. The casino was another one of Lindsey’s favorite places, especially Greektown in Detroit. As her family and friends can attest, she was a music lover, and she almost always had some sort of music on. When it came to movies, Lindsey had a very diverse pallet of what she enjoyed as her favorites were Ghost, The Lion King, and 8 Mile.
Protective, caring, and fun-loving are among the words used to describe Lindsey Johnson. She lived life to the fullest extent and seized every opportunity she had to make memories with her friends and loved ones. Lindsey was a loving daughter and sister, devoted mother, and loyal friend who will be forever remembered by all who knew her.
