As friends and family members can all agree on, Linda Myers truly understood the joy of living each day to the very fullest. She never took a moment for granted, and she was always there to comfort and make others laugh, even in the most difficult of times. Nothing brought Linda greater joy than surrounding herself with her family and friends. Her primary focus in life was fostering personal relationships with those around her. Dearly missed, Linda’s memory will be forever cherished by those who knew her best.

The 1940s are remembered as a tumultuous time for the United States and the rest of the world as WWII raged around the globe. Countless brave servicemen were called to serve away from home, and those who remained stateside supported the war effort and clung to their radios for news. During this troubling time, however, there was a ray of light for Texal and Margaret Noffsinger of Detroit, Michigan, were eagerly anticipating the birth of their second baby. On October 6, 1943, they welcomed their daughter, Linda, into their waiting arms.

Throughout her childhood, Linda was a typical girl of her generation in many ways. She was raised in the family home alongside her older brother, Jerry. From a young age, Linda was a natural athlete and loved sports. She was an especially talented softball pitcher, she always told the story about how, if she would have been just a bit older, would have been recruited to play in the women’s league. The Noffsinger family enjoyed several memorable vacations to locations such as Niagara Falls, the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, Yosemite National Park, and Florida, just to name a few. Growing up, Linda attended local schools. Although she could be mischievous at times and would sometimes play pranks in class, she was an excellent student. In high school, Linda was involved in the pep club and the student council.

Of all the things Linda loved in life, she treasured her family above all else. She met and married, Ron Myers, they lived their early years in an apartment above her grandparents’ house. Eventually, they were able to purchase their first home together in St Clair Shores. Over the years, Linda was overjoyed to become a mother to her two beloved children, John and Todd. She thrived in her role as a mother, and she dedicated herself to raising her children. The Myers were able to take many enjoyable ski trips and vacations to locations including Cancun, Sanibel Island, and the Smokey Mountains.

Later in life, Linda was thrilled to become a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren and doted on them whenever she could. Linda kept a journal of memorable milestones and events in the lives of her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Grandma Henry,” a nickname her twin granddaughters gave her when they were young, named for her and her beloved constant companion, her dog Henry. Linda was always happy to look after her grandchildren, and she never missed a chance to support and cheer them on. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Linda considered herself blessed to watch her family grow to include so many loved ones.

Linda was never afraid to work hard when it came to providing for herself and those who depended on her. She worked at the Franklin Village Tea Room, where she helped cook the meals and built several long lasting friendships. For a time, Linda worked full-time at the Franklin Racquet Club. She found a passion for tennis there, as well as many close friends. Linda entered the corporate world with her job at CNA Insurance, working in the HR benefits department. For nearly 20 years, she worked as a benefits representative for Masco. Linda would onboard every employee and patiently take them through the process of selecting benefits. Throughout her career, she formed several strong friendships and earned the respect of everyone around her. During retirement, Linda worked as a lunch monitor at Woodhaven Public School, she loved interacting with the children and entertaining them with stories and jokes.

Never one to sit still for long, Linda pursued many hobbies to stay busy in her free time. She had a lifelong love for cars, and she enjoyed her daily walks, whether they be outside with her dog Henry or inside at Target or Meijer. Linda liked to play games, especially Jenga. Her favorite game was Trivial Pursuit. Lina valued her friendships and time spent with family. She was always happiest when surrounded by her loved ones.

When reflecting on the overflowing life of Linda Myers, it is easy to see both her unwavering strength and her unconditional love for her family. She was always willing to go above and beyond to serve others, and she never failed to put the needs of those around her above her own. A devoted mother and grandmother, Linda was a friend to many and beloved by all she met. Her heart of kindness and compassion allowed her to impact countless lives for the better. Though she will be deeply missed, Linda leaves behind a priceless legacy that her loved ones will be proud to carry on in her footsteps.
