Life Story / Obituary
Judith S. Romps of Livonia passed away March 2, 2026 at the age of 85. She was born October 8, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Arthur and Marion Scherz.
Judy had a creative spirit and a deep unwavering faith that guided her life. She had the ability to make something beautiful out of almost anything. Her creativity knew no bounds and her talents seemed endless– she enjoyed woodworking, crafting, knitting and crocheting, stained glass work and creating beautiful jewelry. A gifted seamstress, she poured love and precision into everything she made. Her hands were rarely still, and her talents were a constant source of inspiration to her daughters. A devoted member of her church community, she found great joy in serving wherever she was needed – whether through singing in the church choir, helping with events or quietly supporting others behind the scenes. She loved to sing and listen to music. She especially enjoyed attending performances by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. In recent years, she cherished long summer days on Harsens Island, sitting on her porch swing and enjoying time with her family.
Beloved wife of the late Paul. Loving mother of Robin (Stanley) Mackey, Carlyn Millbauer, Marion (Scott) Weil, and Nikki Romps. Dearest grandmother of R.J., Stan Paul, Nolan (Kaycie), Garret, Nathan (Alyssa), Ian, and Nevin. Loving great-grandmother of Alizae, MacKenzie, Mariah, Aurora, Abigail, Addison, and Raya. Dear sister of Carol (the late Bill) Scharnhorst. Sister-in-law of Michael Taormino. She was predeceased by her parents, and her siblings Brian (Joyce) Scherz, Sandra Scherz, and Dawn Taormino.
