Janet Torey

Janet Torey of Livonia passed away August 14, 2025 at the age of 85. She was born July 29, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to George and Virginia Whalen. Beloved wife of Joseph for 62 wonderful years. Loving mother of Matt (Barbara) Torey, Mary (Lee) Keiser, and the late Jennifer Torey. Dearest grandmother of Malori, Marissa, Thomas, and Daniel. She is survived by her step-sisters Elaine and Andrea. Janet was predeceased by her siblings Thomas, Michael, Karen and step-sisters Billie and Faye.

Janet spent most of her life taking care of others, including in her work as a receptionist, which she retired from after 35 years. Janet loved a good murder mystery, or a medium difficulty crossword puzzle. She was a frequent shopper of Kohl's and loved a good dollar store haul. Janet enjoyed a good casino trip with her husband Joe, shopping trips with her granddaughters, and a good debate with her grandsons.

Visitation Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 4-8 pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home, 30200 Five Mile Rd., Livonia, Michigan 48154. Instate Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 10:30 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Dr, Northville, MI 48167. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
