James E. Staniforth of Plymouth, MI, passed away April 22, 2023 at the age of 82. He was born February 15, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to James and Helen Staniforth. Beloved husband of Barbara for 62 wonderful years. Loving father of Christopher (Laurie) Staniforth, Lynn (Glenn) Swartz, and Mark (Gina) Staniforth. Dearest grandfather of Avery, Luke, Charlotte, Nicole, Jessica (Zach), Eric, Sarah, Grace, and Ella. Dear brother of June Kelley and the late Marjorie Viane. James was an avid University of Michigan fan, loved golf, passionate puzzle solver and enthusiastic computer game player. James was a passionate mentor for his grandchildren. He always had a positive attitude no matter what the circumstances. He was incredibly witty and had a gift of humor. James held multiple masters’ degrees and was highly intelligent. Visitation Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 3-8 pm at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home, 45100 Warren Rd., Canton, Michigan 48187. Instate Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 10:30 until time of Mass at 11 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Rd., Canton, Michigan 48187. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Alzheimer’s Association, https://www.alz.org
