Gorgija "George" Ristevski

Gorgija “George” Ristevski, age 78, of Canton, MI, formerly of Redford, MI, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

He was born on April 25, 1944 in Drmeni, a village in the Republic of Macedonia to the late Jordan and Jordanka Ristevski.

He came to America in 1968, got married and shortly after became a U.S. citizen. He was a hardworking, blue-collar worker in the steel industry for over 40 years. He most enjoyed gardening, socializing, and spending time with his family. His wife, daughters and grandchildren were his world. To those who fortunately crossed his path, he was generous, loyal and someone that could always be counted on. In all areas of his life, he went above and beyond and always put everyone’s needs before his own. He was a true definition of what it means to be a humble hero.

George is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mileva Ristevski; children, Julie New (Daniel), Kathy Simovski (Sveto); grandchildren, Christopher (Megan) and Aaron New, Kaitlyn and Jacob Simovski; sister, Milica Nikolovski (Blaze) of Surlensi, Macedonia and sister, Elica Zdravevski (Nikola) of Gelong, Australia; and many nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, and friends.

Although he will be deeply missed, he leaves a great legacy, one he was very proud of.

Due to the pandemic, the family has chosen to hold an intimate, private funeral and celebration of life for their beloved one.
