George Andrew Richardson, of Livonia, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at age 84.
Born July 7, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Andrew and Henrietta Richardson. George spent his youth in Detroit and Redford. He was a wonderful husband to his only love Hazel Richardson. George was born with the gift to be able to fix and repair anything. He was a strong man that was always willing to help everyone. We all relied on his know-how. He loved to paint, draw, create and remodeling while listening to country music.
Beloved husband of Hazel for over 62 years; loving father of Julie, Mark and Luke (Kim); proud grandfather of Bridget (Carlos), Kyle (Katie), Megan (Steve) and Melanie (Jakub); great-grandfather of Brooke, Caden, Avahlyn, and Hailey; dear brother of Christina, Janet and Margaret, and in-laws Ralph and Mary. George was a kind and involved Uncle to 17 nieces and nephews that loved him very much and a dear family friend to Gary.
Preceded in death by dear brothers James and Harold; sisters-in-law Zetta, Jean, Virginia and Joyce; brothers-in-law Hollis, Floyd and Carl.
The Richardson family will receive guests at the funeral home from 3:00 - 8:00 pm, Sunday, January 5, 2020.
Funeral Service also at the Neely-Turowski Funeral Home in Livonia at 11:00 am (10:00 gathering), Monday, January 6, 2020.
Interment will follow his service at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit. Everyone is invited to the luncheon following gravesite ceremony: location to be announced at the service.
George was Lutheran and loved his church. He was a founding member helping to develop, support and maintain the building. Recently George enjoyed serving as an usher and helping with Holy Communion.
