Esther Louise LaJoy

Esther Louise LaJoy, age 87, of Canton, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 3, 2026.

Esther was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert, parents Blase and Anna Pattock, sister Joan and younger brother Dennis and her beloved dog Chui`.

Esther is survived by her loving children; Daniel (Liz) LaJoy, Julianne (Mark) Katulski, Suzanne (Pete) Williams, grandchildren Kayleigh and Jacob and great grandchild Matthew, sister Kathleen and many nieces and nephews.

Esther was born October 2, 1938, in Scottdale, Pennsylvania. The family moved to Garden City, Michigan, where she grew up with her siblings, sister Joan, brother Dennis and sister Kathleen.

Esther attended St. Mary High School and afterwards attended Wayne State University. She married Robert (Bob) LaJoy) in 1959. Esther and Bob were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary together before he passed.

Esther enjoyed her family, faith and friends. Esther, along with her husband Bob, were very active members of their Freedom Center Church community for many years.

Esther will be remembered as a friendly and caring person, who was always available with a hug and a prayer. She brought joy and comfort to those who knew her. Her love of decorating her patio in front of where she resided drew the neighbors over to chat and enjoy. She had caring neighbors that spent time with her.

May Esther rest in peace in God’s loving hands. Psalm 23 was her favorite.

A Celebration of life gathering will be announced at a later date.
